Oasis of the Sea
Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines' Oasis of the Seas® began service in November 2009 as the first Oasis-class ship. One of the largest cruise ships in the world, Oasis offers cruise guests seven different themed areas. The ship features a lush Central Park, a Boardwalk, an AquaTheater and the world's first carousel at sea. A similar range of things to do and see has never been seen before on the world's oceans. Oasis can accommodate 5,400 passengers in 2,700 cabins and 28 state-of-the-art suites.
Audico supplied a lighting control system for Oasis, covering all public areas of the ship, Royal, Loft and A Class cabins, as well as deck lighting. The lighting control system for the public areas uses Helvar's router-based technology. All public areas are discreetly connected to the same dimming system, which controls the lighting moods on board, both indoors and outdoors. For the first time, the design and selection of the Oasis lighting control system took into account not only the high level of customer comfort, but also the latest energy saving standards. In addition, the Oasis system is the first to use Helvar's remote monitoring and control using an IT solution. The system enables Audico to manage lighting settings, monitoring, diagnostics and any necessary repairs from the mainland, while the ship is sailing its own route.
Audico also supplied Oasis with effects lighting controllers and RGB LED fixtures for the Boardwalk, Promenade and Aquatheatre.
As one of the most important safety systems on board, the audiovisual system must be particularly reliable. Audico supplied Oasis with possibly the largest monitorable, ship-wide PA and sound evacuation system in the world. The system consists of six sets of sound systems with signal control, DSP and loudspeakers; more than 10 000 loudspeakers transmit the necessary message throughout the ship. The same system is normally used in the corridors of Oasis to provide background music.
Audiovisual solutions for the marine industry are an important part of Audico's activities. Audico has supplied sophisticated systems for more than 40 high-end cruise ships around the world. In addition to top cruise ships, systems have also been installed on passenger ferries and yachts. Cruise ships are spectacular, state-of-the-art entertainment venues in challenging environments. In addition to traditional AV systems, Audico's expertise as a partner to the marine industry covers security systems, experience technology, lighting control systems and a wide range of presentation and communication technologies. On cruise ships, cutting-edge technology and visual appeal are absolutely essential criteria and therefore Audico's services are highly customised. Durability is also important in ocean conditions, weather variations must not affect the performance of systems or products.
